Crochet Bat · Amigurumi Blueprint Review

Guinea Pig blueprint review if you'd like to see how it looks and what I thought of it.  together with what I idea of it.

Tips for Crocheting amongst Fluffy Yarn post for roughly adept pointers, along alongside a video.  If y'all'd similar to larn more near Go for Faux yarn specifically, don't missy out on my Go for Faux Yarn Review postal service together with video!  (You tin come across all the nifty color selections to make your bat amongst!)

Yarn Needle

It was too helpful to function a darning needle alongside a latch hook middle to thread the furry yarn.  It'sec and so bulky, that it'sec really hard to thread it through a regular yarn needle.  For that reason, I got the especial Clover Darning Needle with Latch Hook Eye as well as am and then glad that I did, because it makes sewing amongst this bulky yarn a breeze!

All you call for to do is to open upwardly the trivial latch, hook inwards the furry yarn, as well as close the latch.  This is a smashing selection for non just bulky yarns, just also any yarn if you take trouble threading it through a regular yarn needle.

My Modifications

I made a few small changes to my bat, which are outlined below.

Hook

Instead of a iii.5mm hook as the design suggested, I used a iii.25mm hook.  I didn't take a 3.5mm on mitt, in addition to I wanted to brand sure I crochet tightly enough for the faux fur constituent, and so I decided a slightly smaller claw wouldn't live a bad selection!

Eyes & Nose

One of the things I did was use a slightly smaller heart together with nose size.  The design called for 8mm eyes and a 10mm olfactory organ.  I used 7mm eyes together with a 9mm nose.

Wing Edging

When finishing the identical wings, I decided to crochet my edging for the moment fly inwards the opposite direction.  By doing and then, I would take the "right side" of the edging stitches demo upward on the front.  This way, at that place'second a clear right wing together with left wing to stitch onto the bat.  It'second a pocket-size visual item, merely i that allows me to differentiate between the 2 wings.

Wing Attachment

When sewing the wings onto the bat, I sewed them shut together inward the dorsum.  I tend to stitch wings to both sides of my amigurumi, just establish that sewing them closer together allows them to flexure about the bat'second trunk inward a nicer hugging form!

So... here he is, in all his perfect glory, hugging himself with his lilliputian flappy wings!

I dear making him hug material, including the skein of grey yarn that I used to crochet his face as well as wings...

I think he prefers hugging the simulated fur yarn, though!  Much softer together with furrier!  My judge is that he'll catch a quick nap on this skein... it must live awfully comfortable.

Video Review

You tin watch my video review to run into this trivial guy inward move!  I as well speak nigh my modifications, the yarn, in addition to design review thoughts inward it.

Overall Thoughts

Going dorsum to Amber'second blueprint, I have to tell that it's SUPER slow to follow in addition to I couldn't believe that my bat took less than 2 hours to complete!  I dearest that the written design has a lot of step-past-pace photo references to help guide you throughout the crochet instructions.  There are fifty-fifty tips included on how to work alongside the yarn, for attaching the olfactory organ, for the placement of the eyes together with ears, and more than!  It'second only such a well-written, detailed tutorial.

I'k so pleased with my finished bat, too volition live making many more than in the time to come!  Because who needs an regular army of bats...? I know I do!
